Assassin's Creed III
Multiplayer Modes
I worked on this title as a part of the Ubisoft Bucharest UI team.
The product was dedicated to all AAA consoles (current gen and next gen).
I worked on the game with other teams from different studios, involved in creating the HUD for the multiplayer modes.
Domination
Domination is one of the new multiplayer modes added in Assassin's Creed III. The game is a standard "Capture Zone" design, with two teams of characters working together to take control of the three territories scattered throughout the map.
The team that holds a point must make strategic decisions between defending their zones or attacking enemy controlled zones. As territories are taken, the Scoring Gauge for that team is filled more and more, and whichever team has the highest score at the end of the countdown will win.
Manhunt
Manhunt is one of the classic Assassin's Creed multiplayer game types returning for the online component of Assassin's Creed III.
In Manhunt, each team takes turns pursuing the other team, working together to kill their targets and keep each other from being stunned to rack up points, while the defending team must work together to hide, stun the attackers and last for as long as possible.
At the end of each round, the teams switch, and the hiders become the attackers and vice versa.
Artifact Assault
Artifact Assault is a returning game type from Assassin's Creed: Revelations, appearing in the multyplayer component for Assassin's Creed III.
Teams must work together in this game mode to steal the opposition's artifacts and carry them back to their base, in a game similar to Capture the Flag. The map is divided up into two territories, with player roles changing between defensive or attacker based on which zone they are in.
Wolfpack
Wolfpack is one of the new online modes added into the multiplayer component of Assassin's Creed III.
Wolfpack is a horde style mode in which players must work together as synchronized teams to assassinate NPCs and earn points. There are 25 waves to Wolfpack, and they get progressively harder as it progresses.
Deathmatch
Deathmatch is the standard free-for-all game type in the multiplayer component for Assassin's Creed III.
Deathmatch is a returning game type from Assassin's Creed: Revelations, and is designed to be a quicker paced game than most of the Brotherhood playlists.
Deathmatch requires players to find and kill their assigned targets and avoid being killed in turn by their pursuers as they compete in a small, enclosed area that makes stealth difficult. Quality kills boost scores.
Wanted
Wanted is the original default game type from Assassin's Creed: Brotherhood, and a returning game type in Assassin's Creed III in the Free For All playlist.
Wanted is an intentionally slower paced and methodical game, forcing players to observe NPC behaviors while exploring a large map with only the target compass to guide them.
In Wanted, players must find and kill their targets while avoiding being killed by their pursuers. Quality kills boost score, and the higher you score the more pursuers there will be assigned to you. The player with the most points at the end of the match wins.
Assassinate
Assassinate is a popular and recurring game type in the Assassin's Creed online experience, first being patched into Assassin's Creed: Brotherhood and now returning in Assassin's Creed III as part of the Free-For-All playlist.
Players must identify, acquire and kill the target of their choice, while avoiding being killed by other players. This forces the player to take more methodical actions and observations, as the slightest misstep could be the tell that alerts anyone nearby that they aren't an NPC and make them a target. Performing quality kills will boost the score, while killing civilians makes you a walking target. Rounds last for 10 minutes each.
